Overview of RAMP
What is RAMP?
Simply put, RAMP is an acronym for Ridgeland Area Master Plan. In the
bigger picture, RAMP will serve as a comprehensive guide for all future
physical, infrastructural development in and around the City. Currently
being undertaken by the City of Ridgeland in conjunction with Moore Planning
Group, LLC of Alexandria, Louisiana, RAMP will be used to promote development
activities and prioritize the City’s capital improvement projects
for the foreseeable future. Both public and private decision-makers will
reference this touchstone document and the broad-based vision for the
city will be clearly articulated. It will provide a framework for methodical,
planned growth as well as preserve and enhance the vitality and character
of established centers of commerce, leisure and habitation. The initiation
of RAMP is a watershed event in the City’s prosperous history.
Dedicating the necessary funds and human resources to this progressive
endeavor, the City of Ridgeland is clearly making a wise investment in
its future prosperity with RAMP. It’s the type of forward-looking
investment that other burgeoning cities across the country have seen pay
big dividends, both in quality of life for residents and economic opportunity
for the business sector. Studies show perennial local issues such as residential
and commercial development, open space protection, and transportation
and community facility infrastructure needs are more advantageously and
effectively addressed with a methodically generated Master Plan as a benchmark.
Given the enduring implications of RAMP, it is imperative that the citizens
of Ridgeland weigh in on the plan’s development with opinions and
concerns. While a committee comprised of elected officials and civic leaders
will ultimately ratify RAMP, meaningful participation from the community
is strongly encouraged by the committee and further enabled by this website.
